Terrain – Burn in Designs Windmill

I sold my terraclips and my Ork stompa to make room for some terrain that I loved.

More companies should send stuff to James Wappel, because I bought this stuff because I watched him assemble the train station and then I bought it, and a bunch of other cool stuff!

I’ve built a couple things so far, but am posting this one ahead of schedule to ask a question…does anyone have any idea how the rest of this goes together? Here’s a page that has a photo of the final build.

The panel at the bottom goes on top, then the little box on the right is on that. Maybe it swivels? The fan goes on the little box…maybe it swivels? There are holes in the box to allow it, but I’d need to find some good sized tubing or something.

Then the photo has a little rectangular thing sticking up, but I can’t see where that goes! It’s on an angle in the photo, but there’s no where for it to attach to that’s on an angle – it’s perpendicular all over.

Other than this confusion, I’ve built a gallows and two wagons successfully (photos to come after I finish the ring making, maybe interwoven with some final model photos), so this isn’t indicative of how the builds go – this stuff is solid, with good and well thought out attachments.

Ok, here’s my guess (some of this I think you’ve already sussed out):
It looks like the box goes on the platform on your desk., and the fan attaches to the box. Judging by the pics, there should probably be 2 wooden bolt-type things that would hold the paltform onto the derrick and let it swivel, and hold the fan onto the box and let it rotate. I think I see some wooden rings near the top of the photo that might maybe be used to hold the bolts on? Does the hole in the box go all the way through (wink wink nudge nudge say no more!)

The wooden rings you see are from another kit, and I don’t have enough of them.

It’s interesting, because after having assembled a bunch of this stuff, so far the kits have included everything you need to assemble it, even if initially you think that you need another piece, it turns out there’s something in the kit that acts similarly and works. There were some little “rivet” like pieces that I almost thought were enough to glue into a long tube and use that, but not quite.

Actually, thinking about it now, the box/platform would have worked perfectly with those little rivet bits. It wouldn’t have worked with the fan though, because gravity.

The hole in the box does go all the way through. I think I might just need some 1/4 or 1/8″ plastic tubing to make it work.
