Day 5 and a half…
We woke up again and had eggs and bacon. Packed up the car with 2 surf boards from the place we’re staying at and drove up the street to a beach called Castles. When googling Castles Beach, you see a beach further south down by Kailua, which is about a half hour drive away. But these guys had directions to a beach that sounded good, so we made the trip.
Once there we found a beautiful beach that was entirely ours – not a single other person was on the beach. Partially because it’s a weekday and this isn’t a huge tourist area, but also because it’s raining and cloudy out. We tried to surf, but our own lack of skill combined with our tiny little boards foiled us. I couldn’t even stand up, and I think it was mostly because it was pretty thin and unstable for a newb like me. We had a great time anyway, swimming around in the water – much warmer despite it being miserable out. 🙂
We had lunch at North Shore Tacos, which we now highly recommend. The food was delicious and we’re thinking we might go back again…
Now we’re hanging out and getting ready for a wedding. In the rain. >.>
Day 4 photos
A few photos
Oahu diving photos!
Deseo
Miranda took a video of the balancing guy.
Dolphins!
Some of these photos are out of order. And I’ve been dealing with photos all afternoon (wow, it’s only 1pm…) and I’m kind of done with it, soooo…enjoy the dolphins!
These two girls were in the group with us.
Miranda is not actually walking on water. There are a pair of dolphins underneath her feet. I have no idea how they train the dolphins to do this.
I’d like to say that I was trying to look a little creepy, but I’m not a great liar, particularly when it’s good for self-deprecating humor. This is just a normal-day face for me. 😛
This is a normal-day face for Miranda as well. 😛
Xcaret Photos!
Cozumel Snorkel Tour
Lots of ruins
A lizard on the road at Akumal. (no ruins)
Here’s a bunch from Tulum, on that semi-rainy day.
Chichen Itza!
The cenote Ik Kil.
Ek Balam. We’re a little sad that we didn’t have more time here. We wanted to get home before it got dark so we weren’t driving in Mexico…in the dark. Cool place.
Both Miranda and I were taking auto-bracketed photos, and we have some HDR software…so here’s some funky modifications on a couple of the photos from above!
I have a few more photos on my underwater camera, but we’re so close to being done!
